My experience as a band member with Rockin’ Moxie began when Rachel, our youngest daughter and her husband Chip, made the decision to form their own band in 2016. Thinking it would be unique and fun, she asked me to join and offer some vocal backup as well as adding a keyboard to the mix. I’ve always had a good musical ear and harmony wasn’t too much of a problem as my roots have been in singing gospel, and country music.

Now the keyboard’s a different story. All of my life I’ve played by ear but quickly realized none of the first five songs were in a familiar key to me. FLASH! New chords for all of our songs which now number about sixty. Have to say, most of the songs in our setlist are new to me. However, being the “Senior” member and having a few years under my belt, I realize they’re sometimes choosing a few from my era. One thing that I’ve learned is that sharing music gives joy. Rachel and I have been sharing musical performances since she was 4 years old. So for however long it lasts, I’ll treasure sharing Chip’s bass notes, stage lights, sequined outfits and late nights with my beautiful family and friends in Rockin’ Moxie.
